Frances Ha

But "Francis Ha", the script for which he wrote together with Greta Gerwig, is currently considered the best of his earlier films. He met Greta Baumbach on the set of the tragicomedy "Greenberg", where Ben Stiller's character falls in love with the girl's character. Having become friends on the set of the film, Baumbach and Gerwig decided to write the script. Despite the fact that the premiere took place in September 2012 (at the Telluride festival), the film was not released to the world market until the second half of 2013. The decision to shoot the film in black and white was dictated by the director himself, who thus wanted to give the atmosphere some static and nostalgia. Charlotte Amboise, a real dancer, who has performed on the Broadway stage many times, including in the most famous productions, was invited to the role of the head of the Francis dance troupe. The character's father, Gerwig, was played by her real dad, as she herself suggested.
